5 YEAR GREENWAY MASTER PLAN

The City of Greenville has received a $1.5 million grant from the federal government to construct a 10-foot wide asphalt trail along the Tar River. FROGGS donors can contribute benches, picnic tables, pavilions, and emergency call stations to enhance this Greenway and make it more pedestrian friendly.

• Planned 3.2 mile, 10-foot wide asphalt trail along the Tar River will connect the Town Common to Green Springs Park at the start of Green Mill Run. The trail will utilize existing streets, and provide scenic walking and biking opportunities, including a riverbank walk along a natural trail along the South Tar River bank. Provides two connections to Green Springs Park and the Green Mill Run Greenway.
• Beech Street: A half-mile trail featuring asphalt, concrete, gravel and woodchips running along Beech Street with a 5th Street crossing to Green Mill Run Greenway.
• Green Mill – S. Tar Connector: 1.3-mile trail of asphalt and boardwalk running behind the cemetery and connecting to the existing Green Mill Run Greenway.

• Sidewalk on both sides of Charles Boulevard has been completed in preparation for the Evans Street connection.

• Green Mill Run Branch South of Pirates Place Apartments: This section will feature a boardwalk and bridges to cross over wetlands. The trail will provide a beautiful, scenic path to serve as a water quality buffer and wildlife protection.

• Another trail option includes utilizing an existing Greenville Utilities easement just south of the Stratford neighborhood to provide a connection to Evans Street. This is an excellent location for a crossing of Charles Boulevard right next to the new ECU baseball stadium.

The City of Greenville has received a $1.4 million grant from the federal government to construct these connectors.
